Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kim, also  known as Mary Kom, is a renowned Indian  boxer born on November 24, 1982, in Kangathei,Manipur,India.Here's a brief overview of her life :-

* Early Life and Education

Mary Kom was the youngest of four children to Mangte Tonpa Kom and Mangte Akham Kom.She grew up in a modest farming family. Mary completed her education at Loktak Christian Model High School and later attended Manipur University. 

* Boxing Career

Mary Kom's interest in boxing began after watching Mohammed Ali's boxing videos and hearing about Dingko Singh's achievement in the 1998 Asian Games. She started training under Coach K. Kosana Meitei in 2000.

* Awards and Recognition 

1.  6-time World Amateur Boxing champion.       (2002-2019).

2.  2012 Olympic Games bronze medalist.

3.  2014 Asian Games gold medalist.

4.  Padma Vibhushan (2020), India's second-        highest civilian honor. 

5.   Padma Bhushan (2013).

6.   Arjuna Award (2003).

7.   Rajiv Ghandi Khel Ratna Award (2009).
